Career overview

Nicky Hofs started playing football at the age of five, for his team Arnhemse Boys in the city of Arnhem, The Netherlands. It was soon discovered he possessed considerable talent and when twelve years old scouts from both Ajax and Vitesse Arnhem showed interest. After failing his trial at Ajax in Amsterdam, Vitesse (his favourite Dutch team) decided to sign him.

He first appeared in professional football in the 2001/2002 season, where he played 13 games for Vitesse and scored two in the process. He continued playing for Vitesse, and halfway through the 2004/2005 season Feyenoord decided to buy the player. Nicky Hofs left Vitesse having a total of 69 official league games, in which he scored a total of fifteen goals.

In his first season for Feyenoord he played a total of 13 league games. In his second season he suffered a major injury on his knees, which limited the number of games he was able to play in the 2005/2006 season to only 14.

International games

He is not selected for the Dutch national team for the World Cup 2006 in Germany, but joins the Netherlands U21 for the U21 European Championship in Portugal 2006, where despite a bad start of the tournament, he helped his team reach the final by scoring two goals in the semi-final again France.
